This page explains how to permanently delete your VokaKitty account and the data associated with it. There are two routes: directly in the app, or by email.
Only want to remove individual words or pools while keeping your account? You can do that without deleting your account – see deleting words and pools.
Route 1: In the app (recommended)
- Open VokaKitty and switch to the Profile tab.
- Choose Delete account.
- Confirm the deletion in two steps: enter your password as a safeguard (if you signed in with Google or Apple, sign in there again instead) and confirm the security prompt.
- The account is blocked immediately, all sign-in tokens become invalid, and the local database on the device is deleted.
Route 2: By email
If you no longer have access to the app, write from the email address registered to the account to info@vokakitty.nl with the subject “Delete account”. We will confirm receipt and carry out the deletion after a brief identity check.
Which data is deleted?
- Identifying data – username, email address, date of birth, password hash, sign-in provider and friend code – is deleted in full.
- Your content – word lists (pools), words, learning progress, flashcard box positions, streak, coins and match history – is deleted or irreversibly anonymised.
- Friendships, requests and the block list are removed.
- The device token for push notifications is removed; the device receives no further messages.
Deadlines and exceptions
- The account stops working immediately. Final deletion of the data from active systems happens without undue delay, and within 30 days at the latest.
- Server log files are deleted independently of this, after roughly eight weeks.
- Data is removed from backups as part of the regular backup cycle.
- Statutory retention obligations remain unaffected. For the currently free use of the service, no such obligations exist.
- Deletion is final and cannot be undone. A deleted account cannot be restored.
